Watch this Youtube video so that you can learn about a REAL GM Grand National badge vs aftermarket:

ORIGINAL "GRAND NATIONAL" fender or trunk badge.  This badge is used on both fenders and the trunk lid.  Each car uses 3 badges. This is a GM OEM part (made by the original manufacturer).

What is Cloisonné?
is made by fusing molten glass to metal. It is an ancient process which has been practiced for centuries and was originally intended for making jewelry and other art objects.

Highway Stars cloisonné emblems are the original GM emblems (made of molten glass fused to the metal) and were produced by the original manufacturer. They are a copper based alloy that is die-struck (stamped) in multiple steps to achieve the desired size and shape. Features are then filled with colored powdered glass. The emblem is fired at high temperatures to melt the powder and fuse the glass to the metal. The excess surface glass is removed and the emblem is re-fired to produce an even layer of non-fading, scratch resistant colored glass. The emblem is buffed and polished before it goes through a nickel-chrome plating process to ensure a bright corrosion resistant surface.

Aftermarket emblems =  plastic, magnetic material, or simply colored metal.   Don't get fooled by purchasing plastic, metal or "cloisonne like" or magnetic knock-off badges thinking they were original GM badges.  These badges are known to crack and fade out after a short period of time.

The GM "Grand National" badges were ALWAYS made of triple chrome plated copper with molten glass inlays (GM badges were NEVER PLASTIC, GM badges were NEVER magnetic)
